Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for high-throughput and hyperscale workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant, durable, in-service-upgradable systems using redundancy, replication, failover, consistency strategies, load-shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Define scalability requirements, service-level objectives, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and complex validation scenarios such as fault injection and brownouts.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and participate in operational support rotations.
- Implement security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation plans, and compliance documentation for multi-tenant cloud environments.
- Develop infrastructure automation and change-management processes for patching, updating, and rolling back applications and infrastructure.
- Coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor junior team members, participate in interviews, and recommend process improvements.
Requirements
- Experience leading development and beginning architecture of scalable distributed systems and large-scale data-processing solutions.
- Expertise designing reliable systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, partition-handling, durability, and availability requirements.
- Experience with performance and load testing, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, fault injection, data synchronization, and production troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure security, encryption, access controls, compliance standards, remediation, infrastructure automation, and change management.
- Ability to provide technical oversight, coordinate work across projects, mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to hiring decisions.
