Base Salary
$168k - $227k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of one or more Stream Management services, including design documentation and implementation.
- Design and build distributed backend systems that start and manage live streams at global scale.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, applied scientists, and AWS service teams to deliver customer experiences and integrations.
- Ensure backend systems are highly available, scalable, secure, performant, observable, and maintainable.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, design reviews, and on-call rotations.
- Drive operational excellence through automation, metrics, alarms, and runbooks.
- Lead investigations of high-severity incidents and complete resulting corrective actions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Familiarity with live video concepts, common streaming protocols, transcoding, and codecs.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
- Preferred experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using Golang or C/C++.
- Preferred familiarity with Live Streaming Origination, CDN integration, caching, and low-latency video streaming distribution.
