Responsibilities
- Design, build, and run scalable Java services for the merchandising platform.
- Collaborate with your squad to design backend systems, APIs, and data models on Google Cloud Platform.
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to tackle technical challenges.
- Enhance and scale data pipelines for experimentation and machine learning applications.
- Contribute to architecture decisions for improved reliability and performance.
- Support production systems end-to-end, ensuring reliability and observability.
- Share knowledge through code reviews and collaboration to strengthen technical practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building backend systems using Java.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Experience designing and operating cloud-native services (e.g., GCP or AWS).
- Comfortable designing APIs and translating needs into scalable solutions.
- Experience running high-volume services in production with a focus on reliability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Desire for continuous learning and system improvement.
- Familiarity with technologies such as gRPC, BigQuery, Bigtable, and ML-driven systems.
