Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance backend services and asynchronous applications using Rust.
- Build and consume APIs supporting entitlement, playback authorization, device registration, and catalog services.
- Design and maintain database schemas, data access layers, migrations, transactions, connection management, indexing, caching, and query optimization.
- Integrate AWS services and relational and NoSQL databases into scalable application architectures.
- Develop unit, integration, database, and performance test suites and participate in code reviews and release activities.
- Analyze production incidents, perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot performance and database issues, and support rollback and operational-readiness procedures.
- Participate in on-call and production support activities.
- Provide effort estimates, technical guidance, risk assessments, and mentorship while collaborating with architects, product teams, and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 7.5 years of experience is required, with an additional stated requirement of 8–10 years of relevant Rust and distributed-systems experience and 15+ years of total experience.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong Rust development experience, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, enums, pattern matching, error handling, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and shared-state handling.
- Experience with Rust web frameworks such as Axum, Actix Web, or Tonic, and with Serde serialization and deserialization.
- Strong SQL and database design expertise with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, migrations, transactions, replication, consistency models, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon OpenSearch, Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, and AWS IAM.
- Experience with Rust database libraries, Cargo, workspaces, Rust testing, Clippy, rustfmt, Git, Docker, and infrastructure as code.
- Ability to analyze logs, metrics, and traces; troubleshoot production issues; and lead incident resolution and technical reviews.
- Preferred experience in OTT, streaming, broadcast, or digital media platforms and knowledge of HLS, DASH, DRM, Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay, CDN, and SSAI.
- Preferred experience with Rust performance optimization, benchmarking, profiling, memory allocation tuning, database clustering and sharding, Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Terraform, AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Grafana, Datadog, Elastic Stack, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, FFI, WebAssembly, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, and ITSM processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with experience mentoring developers and collaborating across technical and business teams.
