
2027 Internship – Core Operations Engineer

Responsibilities
- Complete challenging Core Operations projects addressing real problems throughout the internship.
- Manage the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of Virtu’s electronic trading system.
- Support external trading connections, counterparty support for risk management, and system triage and optimization.
- Work with traders and exchanges to understand market microstructure and solve complex technical problems in a Linux environment.
- Participate in ongoing training, a Singapore-based training week, and mentorship from senior team members.
Requirements
- Applicants must be rising juniors or expected to be ready for full-time employment between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Excellent working knowledge of Linux environments is required.
- Competence in at least one programming language, preferably Python, Bash, Perl, Go, or a similar language, is required.
- Applicants should be comfortable in high-stress, time-sensitive environments and interested in high-transaction environments or low-latency systems.
- Strong communication skills, a strong academic record, and interest in innovative technologies are required.
- Experience with financial systems or knowledge of global financial markets is preferred but not required.
- Experience with SQL and configuration management platforms such as Ansible, Puppet, or Salt is preferred.
- Knowledge of TCP and UDP networking is preferred.
