Responsibilities
- Shape platform strategy and translate approved decisions into architecture, service interfaces, technical standards, and delivery sequencing.
- Lead major cross-team initiatives and migrations, including build-versus-buy analysis and technical decision-making.
- Design, build, and operate platform capabilities and automation involving managed services, AWS EKS, and shared software delivery.
- Develop secure, reliable APIs, automation, self-service workflows, and machine-usable interfaces for AI agents.
- Improve standards for reliability, observability, security, maintainability, and performance.
- Strengthen incident learning and disaster recovery and participate in the shared on-call rotation.
- Partner with product teams to validate shared platform capabilities and mentor engineers across career levels.
Requirements
- Experience as a product engineer building and operating production services end to end.
- Ability to build production software in Go, TypeScript, or Python and work across unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience designing, building, debugging, and operating services on AWS and Kubernetes, including EKS or a comparable Kubernetes environment.
- Experience automating infrastructure and software delivery with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, and safe rollout and recovery practices.
- Experience with AWS CDK, or equivalent experience with Terraform or Pulumi.
- Ability to translate developer needs into secure APIs, automation, and self-service workflows and support adoption of shared capabilities.
- Experience leading technical work, making architecture and build-versus-buy decisions, aligning people without formal authority, communicating trade-offs, and mentoring engineers.
- SRE experience with observability, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident learning, and recovery, plus willingness to join on-call after onboarding.
- Experience leveraging AI tools for problem-solving and productivity while maintaining human oversight and judgment.
