Responsibilities

  • Drive architecture across two Core Platform teams covering execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend platform systems.
  • Design scalable and configurable backend foundations for multiple workloads, deployment models, and product teams.
  • Evolve durable workflow execution, orchestration, queues, task distribution, worker management, scheduling, horizontal scaling, and state management.
  • Design for correctness and resilience across distributed systems, including failure modes, idempotency, state transitions, tenant isolation, and reliability guarantees.
  • Shape database scaling, sharding, migrations, deployment abstractions, and long-term data maintainability.
  • Lead technical decisions through proposals and RFCs, define stable platform interfaces, and support safe migrations.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical guidance across engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Staff-level experience leading architecture across multiple systems or teams, including migrations, re-architectures, or foundational platform initiatives.
  • Deep systems-thinking skills involving invariants, correctness, failure modes, boundaries, and technical trade-offs.
  • Experience designing highly configurable systems that support multiple use cases or operating modes without excessive complexity.
  • Strong distributed-systems experience with asynchronous processing, idempotency, state machines, queues, consistency, and resilience.
  • Experience with data-intensive systems involving persistence, performance, isolation, migrations, and operational reliability.
  • Strong TypeScript experience and substantial backend development with Node.js beyond conventional CRUD applications.
  • Experience influencing multiple teams through technical judgment, RFCs, design reviews, communication, and mentorship.
  • A platform-enablement mindset focused on clear contracts, abstractions, developer experience, modularization, migrations, and refactoring.
  • Preferred experience includes workflow engines, orchestration platforms, developer tools, infrastructure-heavy SaaS, frontend platform architecture, durable execution patterns, multi-tenant systems, open-source software, large-scale SaaS, monolith-to-modular migrations, cloud and self-hosted deployments, observability, and rigorous computer-science foundations.
