Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and target architecture across teams, including writing RFCs for major decisions.
- Lead complex technical work hands-on from design through production.
- Lead the migration of the transaction core from Salesforce to a modern modular system without disrupting daily trading.
- Improve reliability, security, observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortems.
- Design safe AI-agent workflows for money-sensitive paths using evaluations, guardrails, audit trails, and human review.
- Define standards for correctness and data integrity, including idempotency, validation, and testing.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and direct feedback, and help define engineering hiring standards.
- Design scalable pricing-engine architecture and establish observability and incident-management capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience building and running production software, including systems where errors have significant financial consequences.
- Deep backend expertise at production scale in Java or a comparable language such as Kotlin, C#, or Go, with willingness to work in Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience setting architecture across multiple teams through influence rather than a management title.
- Experience designing transactional, distributed, and event-driven systems with a focus on correctness, failure modes, and performance.
- Hands-on experience with reliability, security, observability, incidents, and postmortems.
- Experience working in a fast-growing company and solving business problems as well as technical problems.
- Experience building or evaluating AI agents in production is a strong plus.
- Experience re-platforming or carving systems out of Salesforce or an ERP is a plus.
