Base Salary

$145k - $275k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate Rust services for transactional storage, transform coordination, and low-latency retrieval at the scale of hundreds of billions of objects.
  • Own features end-to-end through technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, on-call, and incident response.
  • Evolve the Python transform framework, tooling, developer experience, and APIs used by engineers across the company.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data stakeholders, including roadmaps, milestones, and technical designs.
  • Improve performance and cost efficiency across DataFusion query execution, Parquet layouts, S3 access, caching, and PostgreSQL/Aurora.
  • Strengthen data lineage, authorization, access controls, and deletion propagation across brands.
  • Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, support code contributions, and improve agentic AI workflows while preserving quality, security, and ownership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems.
  • Production experience writing Rust and strong proficiency in Python.
  • Deep understanding of S3, Apache Parquet/Arrow, and PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency services, including metrics, tracing, alerting, and production debugging.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through cross-team project leadership, design documentation, alignment building, and mentoring.
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, or Aurora and infrastructure-as-code workflows such as Terraform.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and ability to turn ambiguous requirements into shipped software.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with Apache DataFusion, arrow-rs, the parquet crate, query engines, database internals, open-source Rust data projects, large-scale data governance, GDPR and deletion compliance, FinOps, developer platforms, SDKs, and agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code.
