Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable, secure Kubernetes-based infrastructure for multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
- Lead technical direction for Fleet initiatives involving control-plane services, tenancy models, deployment pipelines, and observability layers.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and engineering excellence.
- Drive modernization through GitOps, Policy-as-Code with Kyverno, Cilium networking, autoscaling, and resource-efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Application teams to align infrastructure capabilities with product needs.
- Champion practices for CI/CD, reliability, container lifecycle management, and developer experience.
- Influence engineering leadership and help shape Fleet’s long-term platform strategy.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and help build resilient, observable systems requiring minimal intervention.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5+ years in infrastructure, platform, or backend systems roles.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals and operations, including networking, scheduling, scaling, and controller patterns.
- Ability to design and build systems from scratch while making pragmatic tradeoffs.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python or Go.
- Experience building production-quality, reliable, and observable systems used across engineering organizations.
- Experience operating across AWS, GCP, Azure, and/or hybrid environments.
- Strong experience with Helm, container orchestration patterns, and CI/CD automation.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code using Terraform or Pulumi and GitOps workflows.
- Ability to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders around technical decisions.
- Familiarity with Cilium, Kyverno, KEDA, Gateway API, OPA, or similar technologies is preferred.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, on-premise delivery models, regulated environments, large-scale data or compute workloads, infrastructure transformation, legacy-system decomposition, or GPU infrastructure is preferred.
