Base Salary
$91k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, integrate, test, verify, validate, and release embedded software across the full software development lifecycle.
- Define and review software requirements, architecture, component designs, interfaces, implementations, and technical documentation.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, regression, and automated test suites for embedded software.
- Perform root-cause analysis of software defects and system issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, test, quality, product, and cross-functional engineering teams to align software with product and customer requirements.
- Participate in architecture, design, code, peer, and technical reviews.
- Investigate, assess, and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities according to secure development and product security requirements.
- Support software integration, verification, validation, and release activities.
- Improve development tools, processes, automation, and engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience developing embedded software with C and C++.
- Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation, testing, and development workflows.
- Experience with Linux, Unix-based systems, or real-time operating systems such as QNX and FreeRTOS.
- Proficiency in software architecture, component design, interface design, and software integration.
- Strong understanding of operating system concepts, TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience with device drivers and Board Support Packages is preferred.
- Knowledge of software change management, software development lifecycle practices, and continuous integration/continuous delivery is preferred.
- Experience in Agile Scrum environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with safety-critical software development, CENELEC, and rail transportation standards is preferred.
- Experience with embedded software verification, validation, and debugging is preferred.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and embedded-system cybersecurity requirements is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, self-motivation, and commitment to quality.
