$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality code for moderately complex features and projects with multiple dependencies.
- Build and scale foundational infrastructure and data pipelines for high-load, globally distributed systems.
- Own the software lifecycle from design documentation through production debugging and incident management.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Ops to translate ambiguous requirements into system designs.
- Provide code reviews, create comprehensive tests, improve system performance, and strengthen production monitoring and reliability.
- Manage stakeholder inquiries and dependencies to keep production systems reliable.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend development, distributed systems, or data engineering.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented or functional programming languages, such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
- Experience with data modeling, query optimization, and translating customer problems into system designs.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience writing tests and establishing monitoring systems for code stability.
- Preferred: experience reducing technical debt in high-load distributed systems, mentoring new team members, contributing to engineering culture, and using Spark, Flink, or Kafka.
- Demonstrated sound judgment when making engineering trade-offs for complex features.

- Base salary range of USD $171,000–$190,000 per year for San Francisco, California-based roles.
