Base Salary

$255k - $445k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and architecture standards for a cloud-native platform spanning Kubernetes, distributed systems, and hyperscaler infrastructure.
  • Own complex platform problems involving multi-cloud topology, control-plane design, workload isolation, identity and trust fabrics, and fleet-scale reliability.
  • Drive architectural consistency and best-practice adoption across multiple engineering teams and organizations.
  • Assess technical risks and make strategic decisions regarding managed versus self-managed infrastructure, portability, and multi-hyperscaler strategy.
  • Design and build critical control planes, operators, and infrastructure abstractions.
  • Mentor staff and principal engineers and develop the organization’s technical leadership.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
  • Deep experience operating Kubernetes at multi-cluster, multi-region, and multi-tenant scale.
  • Authoritative hands-on experience with one or more of AWS, Azure, or GCP and their managed Kubernetes offerings: EKS, AKS, or GKE.
  • Proven technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and the ability to influence architecture without positional authority.
  • Deep expertise with operator/controller patterns, infrastructure-as-code, control planes such as Crossplane, GitOps delivery, container networking, and service mesh.
  • Strong programming skills in Go and fluency across the cloud-native ecosystem.
  • Experience integrating AI into engineering or platform work, such as AI-powered tooling, operational automation, agentic systems, or infrastructure strategy.
  • Preferred experience with workload identity, mTLS, SPIFFE/SPIRE, multi-tenant isolation, runtime security, Kata Containers, regulated or federal platforms, FedRAMP, air-gapped deployments, self-hosted distribution, OCI bundling, and large-scale observability.
