Base Salary
$181k - $317k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build high-performance distributed systems and platform components.
- Build scalable data ingestion solutions for distributed systems with strong quality and operational excellence.
- Design extensible, configurable, maintainable software for customer-specific environments.
- Deliver clean, modular, reusable code and enforce code reviews, unit testing, automation, and design reviews.
- Build foundational libraries, frameworks, and tools.
- Provide technical leadership for complex, high-risk projects and collaborate across engineering teams on end-to-end solutions.
- Research, evaluate, and adopt technologies that improve platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex production issues across distributed systems.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a master’s degree, or 6+ years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture, design patterns, and algorithms.
- Deep Java programming expertise, including JVM internals, memory models, garbage collection, and JVM performance tuning.
- Experience with concurrency, networking, sockets, operating system internals, performance optimization, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Large-scale Kafka or comparable streaming-platform experience, including stream processing, topic design, partitioning, replication, and high-availability strategies.
- Experience operating distributed platforms in DevOps environments.
- Experience architecting and delivering full-stack Data Lake solutions and data ingestion pipelines using Apache Iceberg and Apache Spark.
- Expertise with Parquet, ORC, Avro, compaction, governance, and fault-tolerant ingestion and transformation workflows.
- Experience integrating Data Lakes with analytics engines, query services, or machine learning platforms.
- Experience evaluating how AI can be integrated into engineering work, operational tooling, or workflow automation.
- Ability to pass ServiceNow’s USFedPASS background screening, including credit, criminal/misdemeanor, and drug screening; eligibility is limited to US citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents holding a green card.
