Responsibilities
- Build scalable distributed systems capable of handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of globally deployed devices.
- Develop backend services and APIs in Python and/or Go for remote product interaction and configuration.
- Work with Redis, DynamoDB, Postgres, Kafka, and SQS for storage, logging, and message passing.
- Deploy services using Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Define and improve low-latency, high-throughput, high-reliability microservice architectures.
- Design and develop features incorporating computer vision.
- Collaborate cross-functionally in an in-office startup environment.
Requirements
- Be available to work at Verkada HQ in San Mateo, California during winter or summer 2027.
- Be actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field and graduate by June 2028.
- Have prior internship experience developing and launching products.
- Be familiar with Python or Go, distributed systems, operating systems, AWS, and Docker.
- Be comfortable working in an agile team software development environment.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and Linux servers is a plus.
