Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain production-grade Java and Spring Boot applications, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and maintainable code.
  • Build service integrations using versioned APIs and resilient communication patterns.
  • Develop data-access components and optimize SQL for MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other relational databases.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams on microservices boundaries, observability, scalability, and performance.
  • Create automated unit, integration, and API tests; investigate defects and improve reliability and code quality.
  • Participate in peer reviews, technical design discussions, release planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, Maven, and Jira throughout the software-development lifecycle.
  • Apply secure coding practices involving authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets management, and dependency remediation.
  • Create technical documentation for APIs, designs, operational procedures, and support handoffs.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA, DevOps, and global engineering teams.
  • Guide less-experienced developers through code reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to diagnose and resolve production issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.
  • Minimum of 7–9 years of professional software or systems-development experience with substantial hands-on Java development.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Java and Spring/Spring Boot for enterprise applications and services.
  • Experience designing, developing, documenting, and consuming RESTful Web APIs.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API integration patterns.
  • Experience with Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, or comparable tools.
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud deployment concepts.
  • Hands-on Node.js development experience.
  • Proficiency with Git-based source control, pull-request workflows, and Maven or comparable build tooling.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and using Jira.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred experience with Angular and TypeScript, OpenAPI/Swagger, API gateways, service discovery, and observability tools.
  • Preferred experience with JUnit, Mockito, integration testing, JaCoCo, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and AI-service integration.
  • Experience in regulated, scientific, healthcare, life-sciences, or other quality-sensitive software environments is preferred.
