Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of the Agent Framework team’s agent layer for the Streams model
- Design scalable agent-layer architecture and evaluate technologies to improve system performance
- Review existing architecture, lead architectural discussions, and drive technical decisions
- Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and promote high engineering standards
- Gather stakeholder requirements and collaborate with product management on feature prioritization
- Coordinate cross-team collaboration, identify risks, and adjust plans as priorities or feedback change
- Lead technical initiatives from design through delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on a scaled agent, daemon, or systems-level software project involving distributed deployments, versioning, and backward compatibility
- Deep knowledge of observability data collection, including metrics, logs, traces, OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, and syslog
- Strong experience with Go
- Experience designing management and control planes for distributed software, particularly protocol-driven approaches such as OpAMP
- Experience leading large, multi-team technical initiatives from ambiguous design through shipped software
- Ability to work across projects, codebases, and teams as business priorities change
- Ability to write design documents, build stakeholder consensus, and make and uphold technical decisions
- Strong written communication, including trusted design documents and ADRs
- Experience with Elastic Agent, Fleet, Beats, or OpenTelemetry Collector internals is preferred
- Experience with OpenTelemetry Collector configuration, OTLP transport, or upstream contributions is preferred
- Experience with cross-platform testing and developer productivity across Linux, Windows, macOS, containers, and Kubernetes is preferred
- Knowledge of pipeline execution models and processing languages such as Streamlang, Logstash, or Fluent is preferred
- Experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code tooling for agent deployment is preferred
- Open source contributions in the observability or agent ecosystem are preferred
