Base Salary
$115k - $120k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, code, debug, implement, and maintain stand-alone, web-based, and multi-tier applications for NIA’s Intramural Research Program.
- Develop responsive application frontends with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and backends with Perl, PHP, Ruby, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Apply HL7, DICOM, and PACS protocols to clinical applications and systems.
- Use Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server database engines.
- Work within a DevSecOps-based development methodology and establish requirements engineering processes.
- Apply OWASP and US-CERT secure coding standards to reduce software vulnerabilities.
- Support laboratory programs, scientific computation devices, clinical IT systems, and scientific applications.
- Interact with end users, clinicians, scientists, technicians, vendors, and IT staff to plan, deploy, configure, and maintain applications and systems.
- Maintain Git source control and Puppet configuration management tools.
- Develop software and data documentation and write technical reports describing system operation.
- Organize developer training and strategic planning meetings to improve collaboration and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Health Information, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in clinical application programming or health IT systems development.
- Experience designing, coding, debugging, and implementing stand-alone, web-based, and multi-tier applications.
- Proficiency with HL7, DICOM, and PACS clinical data standards and protocols.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Perl, PHP or Ruby, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proficiency with Git and Puppet.
- Experience working in a DevSecOps-based Agile software development methodology.
- Familiarity with OWASP and US-CERT secure coding guidance.
- Experience supporting laboratory sciences and familiarity with Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Unix, real-time operating systems, and mobile operating systems.
- Intermediate programming and scripting skills and some familiarity with High Performance Computing environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with application end users.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include clinical research IT experience in federal, NIH, or academic medical environments; Agile or DevSecOps certification; data management and repository-hosting experience; public scientific databank interface development; Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripting; familiarity with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, federal privacy requirements, FedRAMP-authorized cloud platforms, and NIH STRIDES services.
