Base Salary

$114k - $147k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop quality software used by institutional investors, asset managers, technology firms, and custodian banks.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain major features and services throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Own critical processes and build scalable, highly available backend systems.
  • Contribute to software architecture, technical designs, product roadmaps, and development strategies.
  • Test and validate owned code in development and production while improving testability, maintainability, quality, scaling, and performance.
  • Investigate systemic problems and propose solutions for dependencies, adjacent services, and larger-system impacts.
  • Lead the technical breakdown of deliverables and capabilities into features and stories.
  • Document system requirements and behavior across multiple domains.
  • Mentor, train, and help less experienced engineers troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Understand client needs, respond to customer issues, and contribute to quality and performance decisions before development begins.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of professional industry experience with leading programming languages such as Java or Python.
  • Experience with object-oriented or functional programming languages, software development lifecycle practices, and production-system monitoring.
  • Experience with machine learning and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka, or SQS/SNS.
  • Ability to build scalable backend services involving microservices, polyglot storage, messaging systems, and data processing pipelines.
  • Professional experience building distributed software systems, particularly with big data and NoSQL database technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, DynamoDB, HBase, Hive, Cassandra, or Vertica.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create software design documentation and sequence diagrams and present complex technical designs concisely.
  • Ability to communicate in English by speaking, reading, comprehending, and writing.
