Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code, and debug BIOS and firmware using knowledge of server hardware architecture and system design.
  • Review firmware and software architecture specifications and provide feedback on design specifications.
  • Create design documentation with the engineering team and plan for motherboard and BIOS reliability and compatibility.
  • Plan and execute reference code and collateral.
  • Participate in product development and technical teams, including new platform power-on events.
  • Coordinate with cross-team validation organizations and implement features for manufacturing validation.
  • Support software and BIOS issues throughout program planning, development, and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of BIOS development experience.
  • Demonstrated C, C++, and x86 Assembly language skills.
  • Knowledge of operating system internals and their interaction with BIOS functions.
  • Understanding of processor and enterprise system architecture.
  • Experience with user interface or presentation-layer development.
  • Extensive enterprise platform, BIOS, driver, and I/O technology experience.
  • Experience developing legacy BIOS such as Phoenix and AMI, with hands-on UEFI, EDK II, and Linux boot experience.
  • Knowledge of x86 CPUs, memory controllers, I/O hubs, and PC architecture.
  • Knowledge of PCI, ACPI, DDR, and CXL industry specifications.
  • Working knowledge of BMC functions related to BIOS.
  • Experience with board-level diagnostic tools and utilities.
