Base Salary
$20k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, risk, and operations partners throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply team effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Establish code review and design standards and promote engineering quality through writing and technical talks.
- Develop talent by providing feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Design, develop, and launch customer-facing web, mobile, and backend features and systems at scale.
- Monitor production impact and use data to measure and improve customer experiences.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- 8+ years of total software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency developing web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React Native, React, or Vue.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching systems at scale.
- Experience defining technical and execution plans for major features, system components, or deprecations.
- Ability to write high-quality, understandable, reusable code.
- Ability to work across low-level language idioms and large-system architecture.
- An AI-first mindset and willingness to adopt and safely apply current technologies.
- Evidence of growth and impact through gathering and applying feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
