Responsibilities
- Create and maintain automated tests and testing tools for Xcode and Instruments.
- Partner with a Xcode feature team to extend automated testing coverage.
- Build shared APIs for testing and develop strategies that maximize coverage with minimal manual intervention.
- Reason about failure modes spanning OS, compiler, and runtime boundaries.
- Identify, reproduce, document, debug, and troubleshoot software defects and regressions.
- Engage compiler, runtime, and OS teams when quality issues cross team boundaries.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Strong object-oriented programming experience in Swift and/or Python or other scripting experience.
- Demonstrated experience writing and executing detailed test plans for complex software systems.
- Proven ability to identify, reproduce, and clearly document software defects, with strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with UI framework testing, debugging, bug hunting, and regression identification.
- Preferred: experience with macOS or iOS platform frameworks such as AppKit, UIKit, SwiftUI, XCTest, or LLDB.
- Preferred: demonstrated use of LLMs or AI tooling to improve quality, failure triage, or automation workflows.
- Preferred: experience shipping test automation frameworks at scale and mentoring engineers or leading cross-team quality initiatives.
