Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems serving millions of users.
- Deliver features end to end across design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Architect low-latency APIs and backend services for AI-driven conversational systems and real-time interactions.
- Develop reliable, performant, and scalable cloud-native services in Java.
- Build and operate AWS-based deployments using Docker and Kubernetes/ECS.
- Ensure resiliency, fault tolerance, high availability, failover readiness, and compliance in high-throughput environments.
- Lead technical execution by breaking down requirements, distributing work, and unblocking the team.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote technical excellence across distributed teams.
- Act as the technical liaison for product managers and cross-functional partners, communicating progress, risks, and architectural trade-offs.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Proficiency in modern Java.
- Experience designing and scaling backend systems for millions of users or high-throughput real-time services.
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures, AWS or similar platforms, Docker, and Kubernetes/ECS.
- Experience with distributed data systems such as Redis and Apache Kafka.
- Exposure to LLM integration, including prompting, evaluation, and observability.
- Strong background in high-availability systems, failover, and resiliency design.
- Knowledge of observability practices including logging, monitoring, tracing, and metrics.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
- Knowledge of Micronaut or Spring is preferred.
- Python experience is preferred.
- Performance tuning and scaling experience in high-throughput environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with GitOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code is preferred.
