Base Salary
$153k - $214k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build large new features, significant product improvements, and critical bug fixes across Agent Hooks and IDE integrations.
- Make architectural decisions that keep integrations and public repositories scalable, secure, and aligned with 1Password’s security and authentication models.
- Identify technical opportunities and risks up to approximately six months ahead and lead execution against team objectives.
- Improve code quality, testing coverage, documentation, and standards across community-facing repositories.
- Coordinate with Partnerships, Product, UX, and SDK/CLI teams to translate requirements into actionable work.
- Drive initiatives that better support customers and mitigate developer issues on the platform.
- Provide technical leadership, constructive feedback, and support shared ownership across the team.
- Own projects from initial planning through development and customer support.
Requirements
- Significant professional software development experience and a record of independently delivering medium-to-large technical projects end to end.
- Advanced hands-on command of Git, IDEs, terminal, debugging tools, testing tools, and the programming languages relevant to the team’s work.
- Experience designing extensible and maintainable systems, ideally developer tooling, IDE extensions, agent integrations, or actively maintained open source projects.
- Ability to set technical direction and make architectural decisions that support scalability, security, and quality.
- Experience working publicly with external contributors and maintaining a high quality bar in community-facing repositories.
- Interest in agent-assisted development and building tools that make it smoother and more secure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across engineering, product, and design stakeholders.
- Security-minded approach consistent with 1Password’s principles.
- Preferred: experience maintaining a popular open source project or managing open source community engagement.
- Preferred: familiarity with AI-enabled or agentic IDEs such as Cursor and the agent-hook ecosystem.
- Preferred: experience contributing to an Open Source Program Office or similar function.
