Responsibilities
- Own firmware architecture and design for transport, wireless protocol, firmware, and software stacks in embedded devices from concept through production.
- Develop and define communication protocols for peripheral functionality.
- Design, implement, and scale low-latency RF and wireless communication protocols for embedded systems.
- Architect modular, reusable firmware frameworks across platforms and product lines.
- Lead and mentor internal firmware engineers and external development partners.
- Ensure firmware supports cross-platform reuse and long-term scalability.
- Troubleshoot complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and RF domains.
- Represent wireless protocols and implementations to silicon and ODM partners, evaluate combo-SoC roadmaps, and drive vendor firmware defects to resolution.
- Create technical strategy documents and raise the organization’s design-review standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
- Demonstrated experience leading firmware development for shipped products.
- Strong experience with RF/wireless systems or low-latency embedded systems.
- Strong embedded firmware development experience in C/C++.
- Deep understanding of embedded systems and communication protocol design.
- Experience with ARM microcontrollers, low-power system design, hardware bring-up, and RF/system-level debugging.
- Proven ability to design scalable, reusable, cross-platform firmware architectures.
- Experience implementing hardware-in-the-loop and automated testing.
- Experience with consumer electronics product development from concept through mass production.
- Experience leading firmware efforts across teams and partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong problem-solving skills.
- Preferred experience includes wireless audio or ultra-low-latency systems, external development partners or ODMs, kernel or driver development, engineering-process scaling, and team mentoring.
- Passion for gaming, digital entertainment, and consumer electronics is a plus.
