Responsibilities
- Build forecasting models and models that assess and guide marketing investments.
- Frame ambiguous business and stakeholder needs as well-defined machine learning problems.
- Design, build, validate, tune, deploy, and maintain production machine learning models.
- Engineer and maintain features and datasets for training and inference.
- Deploy models in batch and real-time scenarios and monitor operational and business metrics.
- Lead modeling projects end-to-end from problem framing and stakeholder alignment through delivery, monitoring, and iteration.
- Contribute to Nu Colombia’s strategy and performance by translating business needs into modeling strategies aligned with Nubank’s architecture and long-term goals.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning theory, and modeling techniques including regression, tree-based models, and deep learning.
- Programming experience in Python and familiarity with scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or XGBoost.
- Experience training, validating, and tuning models, with understanding of overfitting, the bias-variance tradeoff, and evaluation metrics.
- Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle from training and evaluation through deployment and monitoring.
- Ability to write efficient SQL queries and work with analytical data environments.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
- Passion for building high-quality, production-grade models.
- Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; distributed systems and asynchronous architectures; feature stores, MLOps tooling, and experiment tracking such as MLflow, Feast, or Airflow; data architecture patterns; and visualization tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Preferred knowledge of software engineering best practices including testing, clean code, and documentation.
