Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership across data domains and collaborate with product, operations, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams.
Deploy, operate, and architect databases at scale across Kubernetes, decentralized cloud, and bare-metal environments.
Drive database performance, scale, continuity, stability, and operational excellence.
Develop database administration, monitoring, maintenance, testing, release, automation, security, IAM, audit, and traceability practices.
Lead troubleshooting, incident resolution, retrospectives, and root-cause analysis to improve reliability and minimize downtime.
Evaluate emerging technologies, reduce technology-stack complexity, and recommend strategic adoption decisions.
Present roadmaps during quarterly planning and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mentor and collaborate with engineering staff, developers, system administrators, and data scientists.

At least 7 years of experience as a Database Reliability Engineer, Database Administrator, SRE focused on data systems, or in a similar role.
Deep database expertise, particularly with MySQL, MariaDB, Galera, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Aerospike, Redis, StarRocks, and Vertica.
Experience operating databases at scale in Kubernetes/containerized and bare-metal environments.
Working knowledge of Python, Bash/Shell, Kotlin, Java, and/or Golang.
Understanding of Ansible, Terraform, Helm, GitLab workflows, ArgoCD, and other CI/CD tools.
Understanding of database change-management systems such as Liquibase, Flywheel, or Alembic.
Understanding of observability tools such as Loki, Grafana, and Prometheus.
Basic or desirable knowledge of streaming and big-data technologies including Kafka, Spark, Flink, Hadoop, Presto/Trino, or Redis.
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and deep troubleshooting abilities.
