Responsibilities
- Evaluate system engineering solutions and select scalable, reliable approaches for the TCOS and Dispatch product line.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, explaining system behavior and product interactions to customers and development teams.
- Lead future concepts, design enhancements, requirements clarification, and technical correspondence for TCOS products.
- Triage customer-reported problems, determine severity and priority, and perform initial investigations.
- Engage with development teams on clarification, story acceptance, refinement, testing, validation, and design decisions.
- Own and prioritize the overall project backlog and ensure readiness for sprint planning.
- Decompose features into vertical-slice user stories with SMART acceptance criteria and clear business needs.
- Collaborate with program managers on short-term roadmap planning and capability preparation.
- Represent customer needs to Scrum teams and coordinate with Release Engineers.
- Provide project status updates, customer-facing technical documentation, and input to user manuals and installation instructions.
- Establish integration with Cyber Security and Compliance teams and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM major.
- At least 5–6 years of professional experience as a System Engineer or in an equivalent role.
- Hands-on experience decomposing requirements into Agile features and user stories with strong acceptance criteria and traceability.
- Ability to translate ambiguous requests into actionable user stories and understand technology-stack impacts.
- Experience conducting customer and stakeholder interviews and developing personas.
- Experience with Rally, Jira, or other defect and work-tracking tools.
- Ability to generate and interpret Agile metrics such as burn-up, burn-down, and velocity reports.
- Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and collaboration with Quality Engineering and DevOps teams.
- Strong problem-solving, technical communication, effort estimation, technology-impact analysis, and buy-versus-build assessment skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, influence stakeholders, navigate matrixed organizations, and communicate with senior leadership.
- Ability to work effectively with global teams and provide team oversight, mentoring, and delegation.
