Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and own embedded software subsystems for next-generation and fielded business-jet cabin systems.
- Lead development of a Yocto-based video encoder/decoder platform supporting HDCP-protected HD content streaming over IP, including FPGA PL/PS integration on Zynq designs.
- Develop and maintain audio, video, and subsystem device drivers using schematics and component datasheets.
- Debug and root-cause hardware/software issues across SoC platforms, peripherals, and networking stacks using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and trace tools.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead sustaining efforts, prioritize defect backlogs, and coordinate release planning with product management.
- Manage component obsolescence and end-of-life transitions and integrate alternate parts with minimal design disruption.
- Maintain certification-aligned requirements, code review, regression testing, and verification processes.
- Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, manufacturing, quality, field-support, and cross-company teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong Embedded Linux experience, including Yocto/OpenEmbedded BSP development, kernel configuration, device drivers, and PetaLinux migration.
- Hands-on experience with embedded video subsystems, including V4L2, GStreamer, or similar technologies, and familiarity with HDCP or comparable content-protection protocols.
- Experience with ARM-based SoCs such as Xilinx Zynq, Qualcomm, and NXP i.MX, including device trees, BSP bring-up, and driver integration.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, and Bash.
- Experience debugging across hardware/software boundaries and working with SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and networked embedded environments.
- Ability to interpret schematics, datasheets, and digital hardware designs.
- Experience sustaining embedded products through post-release maintenance and field issue resolution.
- Experience with regression testing, requirements traceability, change-impact analysis, Git, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence, and ability to make safe changes in legacy codebases with minimal regression risk.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical topics to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include audio/video codecs, media processing, HDCP key management, Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Qualcomm or NXP i.MX BSPs, RTOS platforms, ARM assembly, high-reliability industries, DO-178C, FAA or Mil Spec requirements, IoT, GitHub Actions, pytest, HIL testing, and production test infrastructure.
