Responsibilities
- Lead technical design decisions that improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design, implement, maintain, and scale large distributed systems for moving ML models into production.
- Write design documents, build consensus, and evaluate new technologies.
- Troubleshoot and improve continuous integration software pipelines.
- Collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists across partner teams.
- Respond to alerts and debug production issues to maintain platform health and reliability.
- Review pull requests for consistency, performance, readability, and security.
- Develop documentation and mentor engineers while fostering an inclusive team environment.
- Help set the AI Model Serving platform’s product vision with the engineering manager.
Requirements
- Principal level: 10+ years of related software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
- Senior level: 6+ years of related software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep experience designing, building, and scaling production-grade distributed systems.
- Deep proficiency in Python and experience building production systems with Python-based frameworks.
- Familiarity with serving, scaling, and monitoring large language models and traditional machine-learning models in production.
- Ability to design monitoring strategies for system health, performance, and cost.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including design documentation and consensus building.
- Collaborative engineering experience, including mentoring and inclusive team development.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, testing, code review, source control, and deployment.
