Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and delivery of backend services and platform capabilities from problem framing through launch and operation.
- Design secure, versionable APIs, service contracts, and cross-team integration patterns.
- Build and evolve distributed, event-driven systems with attention to reliability, scalability, performance, and data consistency.
- Set technical direction for complex cross-team initiatives and align stakeholders on architectural trade-offs.
- Own production readiness, including observability, deployment safety, incident response, and operational improvements.
- Identify architectural bottlenecks and modernize or simplify systems to improve customer experience, developer effectiveness, and performance.
- Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and day-to-day collaboration.
- Partner with product, design, client, security, and engineering teams to deliver durable technical solutions.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience building and operating backend software in production, with depth in Go or a comparable language and the ability to contribute in Go.
- Track record designing and delivering distributed services, APIs, and systems that meet real-world reliability and performance requirements.
- Strong system-design skills, including clarifying ambiguity, identifying edge cases, reasoning about failure modes, and explaining architectural trade-offs.
- Experience with API design and service contracts and a security-minded approach to backend development.
- Experience with observability, deployment strategies, incident response, and improving service health over time.
- Ability to lead across team boundaries through clear communication, alignment, and effective technical decision-making.
- Collaborative leadership and mentorship style with a strong quality bar and actionable feedback.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, streaming systems, service decomposition, customer-facing platform performance or resilience, and distributed teams or organizational boundaries.
