Responsibilities
- Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms across public cloud environments.
- Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across thousands of compute nodes and multiple data centers.
- Build and operate Salesforce’s internal Kafka-as-a-Service platform for messaging, streaming, pipelines, alerting, and analytics.
- Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform and build containerized microservices.
- Contribute to open-source technologies including Spinnaker and Zookeeper.
- Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and improve service availability, resilience, and performance.
- Balance live-site management, feature delivery, and technical-debt reduction.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to maintain highly available services.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- At least 4 years of backend software development experience is required.
- Deep programming knowledge in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and deep knowledge of Kafka internals.
- Kubernetes engineering experience, including StatefulSets, autoscaling, PersistentVolumeClaims, Helm, and production-workload debugging.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform for cloud resources.
- Experience using and contributing to Kafka, Spinnaker, and Zookeeper.
- Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
- Experience with critical infrastructure services involving monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting.
- Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to create architectural designs influencing decisions across teams and organizational boundaries.

- For British Columbia-based roles, the base salary hiring range is CAD 130,300 to CAD 179,200.
- The role includes participation in a distributed team with coverage across Pacific and India Standard Time zones and continuous on-call coverage.
