Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Ruby.
- Ensure the system handles high transaction volumes efficiently while maintaining low latency.
- Optimize database queries and caching strategies to improve transaction speed.
- Implement secure practices for handling sensitive data.
- Write automated unit and integration tests as part of CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentor team members and conduct code reviews while maintaining development quality and delivery speed.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies using OpenSearch, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and CloudWatch.
- Monitor metrics and alarms and contribute to incident response and anomaly resolution.
Requirements
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field, or be in the final years of the program.
- At least 5 years of backend experience.
- Strong knowledge of developing, designing, and using APIs; JSON:API, OpenAPI, and JSON Schema knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of Internet protocols, especially HTTP, TCP, UDP, WebSocket, and commonly used web-development protocols.
- Knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Advanced Git knowledge, including maintaining a clear and orderly commit history.
- Experience with Ruby and willingness to program in other languages.
- Understanding of the broader technology stack, including frontend and mobile development, is expected.
- Experience with JavaScript and a frontend framework such as React, Angular, Vue, or another frontend framework is desirable.
- Linux development experience is desirable.
