Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy the Data Access interface for client data access.
- Implement flexible, performant, and secure query patterns and APIs.
- Enforce entitlements so clients can access only authorized data products.
- Build end-to-end request tracing, provenance, source attribution, and observability into the platform.
- Use metrics, KPIs, caching, and performance strategies to optimize query execution and meet client SLAs.
- Own Data Access products and features, including bug fixes, performance improvements, and scalability enhancements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to improve development processes.
- Participate in a regional on-call rotation supporting production systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience focused on API development, query systems, or data infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C++ and experience building production-grade, client-facing systems.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
- Experience designing APIs and building orchestration layers across multiple backend systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Preferred experience with multithreaded programming, low-latency systems, and high-availability systems.
- Preferred knowledge of query engine architecture, parsers, compilers, and interpreters.
- Preferred experience implementing caching strategies for query results and metadata.
- Preferred experience with service-oriented architecture, microservices design, distributed systems, failure handling, large-scale data systems, rate limiting, throttling, and client quota management.
