Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, design, implementation, integration, and maintenance of substantial firmware features across SoC, board, and platform levels.
- Lead technical execution in areas including inter-processor communication, connectivity, telemetry, diagnostics, logging, debug traces, profiling, SR-IOV, virtualization, time synchronization, and platform services.
- Drive SoC and platform bring-up, hardware/software integration, validation, and resolution of complex system-level issues.
- Develop C/C++ code, unit tests, design documentation, and validation plans.
- Perform root-cause analysis using JTAG, traces, logs, instrumentation, emulators, serial debuggers, and logic analyzers.
- Improve debuggability, observability, test automation, continuous integration, and pre-silicon/post-silicon validation.
- Lead design and code reviews, identify technical risks, and guide teams toward practical solutions.
- Collaborate across hardware, Linux, RTOS, infrastructure, security, validation, product, external partner, and manufacturing teams.
- Support customer and production issue resolution, including field debugging.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical planning, architecture, roadmap discussions, and engineering quality improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of embedded firmware or low-level system software development experience in the primary qualifications, with formal minimum qualifications of 4 years with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or 2 years with a PhD.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Experience delivering complex firmware features from requirements through integration and validation.
- Experience with SoC bring-up, board support packages, device drivers, boot loaders, hardware/software integration, or system-level debugging.
- Understanding of computer and SoC architecture, including memory hierarchy, interrupts, DMA, coherency, interconnects, caches, and peripheral interfaces.
- Experience debugging embedded systems and working in Linux-based development environments and/or with an RTOS.
- Preferred experience includes data center, cloud, AI accelerator, or high-performance compute platforms; PCIe or LPDDR; Yocto, Buildroot, or OpenEmbedded; Linux kernel development; Git and Gerrit; unit testing; code coverage; static analysis; performance analysis; and collaboration with silicon vendors, design manufacturers, or manufacturing teams.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions, influence cross-team decisions, coordinate dependencies, and mentor engineers.
