Responsibilities
- Design and develop core features of the Roku OS application framework.
- Develop software using C++ and BrightScript for embedded Roku devices.
- Implement algorithms for parsing and rendering data from the Roku network.
- Analyze user needs, debug complex technical issues, and resolve platform and production problems.
- Design scalable software systems, APIs, SDKs, and developer tools while optimizing performance, memory usage, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with product development, UI design, platform services, and release management teams.
- Participate in design discussions, specifications, peer code reviews, and unit, integration, and functional testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus five years of progressive experience; alternatively, a master's degree or foreign equivalent plus three years of experience.
- At least three years of experience with Linux-based embedded systems, C++, Python, front-end embedded-device application development, data structures and algorithms, and complex software architecture.
- At least three years of experience with API design, debugging, performance optimization, memory management, multithreaded development, software design patterns, and diagnosing production issues.
- Experience with Agile software development, JIRA, GitLab, Jenkins, CI/CD tooling, SDKs, APIs, developer tools, consumer electronics, media codecs, and streaming.
