Base Salary
$158k - $179k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, modular, and resilient backend systems for evolving product and business needs.
- Maintain engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, testing, observability, and production readiness.
- Develop dependable APIs, events, and service boundaries for partner integrations, experimentation, analytics, and downstream systems.
- Improve reliability, maintainability, performance, observability, and operational excellence across critical services.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to shape solutions and deliver production systems.
- Build and maintain unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end automated test coverage.
- Use AI tools for prototyping, scaffolding, refactoring, and exploratory development while validating results with engineering judgment.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production applications.
- Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including production-grade service development and operation.
- Strong knowledge of REST API design, service contracts, backward compatibility, distributed systems, service decomposition, and inter-service communication.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL data modeling, indexing, persistence, and query performance.
- Experience with asynchronous and event-driven architectures such as Kafka and SQS.
- Understanding of observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, and production debugging.
- Experience with unit, integration, and contract testing strategies.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferred experience with high-scale consumer systems, marketplace platforms, API gateways, rate limiting, service-level protections, data pipelines, event quality, and analytics instrumentation.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI-powered IDEs and modern AI coding models.
- Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
