Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of the ArangoDB Kubernetes Operator.
- Own operator architecture and implement lifecycle management, scaling, backup, and replication features.
- Ensure high availability, performance, stability, upgrades, migrations, observability, and cluster lifecycle automation.
- Define best practices for running stateful systems on Kubernetes and troubleshoot distributed-systems issues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on enterprise and cloud requirements, lead technical discussions, review code, mentor contributors, and write design documentation.
- Support extension of the solution into AWS GovCloud.
Requirements
- 4+ years of programming and cloud experience.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes, CRDs, and Kubernetes operators.
- Strong experience with Go and understanding of concurrency, storage, and distributed systems.
- Strong cloud experience, especially AWS; AWS GovCloud experience is an additional advantage.
- Experience designing and managing production-grade distributed databases or stateful systems, including storage management, replication, persistent volumes, backups, failover, and cluster scaling.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes storage concepts, volume resizing, and storage performance tuning.
- Operational mindset focused on stability, upgrades, migrations, observability, metrics, and automation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, including technical discussions, code review, mentoring, and technical writing.
- U.S. citizenship is required; an active security clearance is preferred.
