Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement authoritative and recursive DNS data plane components for low-latency, high-throughput processing.
  • Build and maintain production services and libraries in Go, C, Java, and/or Python.
  • Optimize CPU, memory, and network I/O performance through concurrency models, event loops, socket tuning, and profiling.
  • Own data plane components across architecture, implementation, testing, rollout, observability, capacity planning, and production health.
  • Develop metrics, logs, tracing, SLOs, dashboards, runbooks, and on-call practices.
  • Improve reliability through fault-tolerant design, graceful degradation, safe deployments, and proactive capacity planning.
  • Partner with control-plane, security, SRE, and operations teams on end-to-end DNS platform improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering-standard improvements.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of operations engineering experience in SaaS, cloud, or hybrid-cloud environments.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing and operating large-scale, highly distributed service infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on Linux experience.
  • Strong experience building and operating production-grade distributed systems and/or network services.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Go, C, Java, or Python, with the ability and interest to work across languages.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals including TCP/UDP and sockets, concurrency, and performance profiling.
  • Experience designing highly available systems and delivering safe production rollouts using canaries and feature flags.
  • Deep DNS knowledge, including RFCs, EDNS(0), DNSSEC, caching, zone transfers, rate limiting, and load balancing, is desirable.
  • Experience with high-performance patterns such as epoll/kqueue, asynchronous I/O, low-lock or lock-free data structures, and packet processing is desirable.
  • Familiarity with DDoS mitigation, abuse protection, traffic engineering, containers, Kubernetes, service meshes, network policies, and Terraform is desirable.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing, fuzzing, property-based testing, chaos testing, and operating 24/7 mission-critical services is desirable.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools with strong engineering judgment, code-quality, ownership, and security standards is desirable.

  • US hiring range is $79,200 to $209,500 per annum, with possible bonus and equity eligibility.
