Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, and scale software systems while considering service architecture.
- Analyze user needs and determine whether to build new software or modify existing systems.
- Translate business requirements and specifications into usable, scalable software.
- Lead design and code reviews.
- Participate in discussions about the team’s future vision, strategy, and engineering roadmap.
- Integrate software with external systems and address performance and scaling challenges.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a backend software engineer for non-trivial web applications.
- At least 3 years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Experience building systems from the ground up and addressing poor design assumptions and scaling issues.
- Extensive experience designing data models for relational databases.
- Ability to make technical decisions informed by business goals and functionality.
- Ability to break large initiatives into incrementally implementable deliverables.
- Strong communication skills for describing complex problems and solutions.
- Ability to work across teams on complex issues.
- Preferred experience with Hotwire Turbo, Stimulus, Tailwind, frontend development, DevOps infrastructure, SQL investigations or complex reporting, and fintech.
