Responsibilities
- Define and evolve shared native mobile architecture across iOS and Android, including navigation, state management, networking, offline strategies, error handling, and modularisation.
- Own shared mobile libraries and frameworks for design systems, analytics, feature flags, experimentation, authentication, payments, and observability.
- Own application authentication and authorization mechanisms and ensure shared components are stable, documented, and adoptable by product teams.
- Drive mobile application security, including anti-tampering measures, certificate pinning, and security best practices.
- Track platform metrics such as crash-free sessions, ANRs, app startup time, bundle size, and network performance, and improve mobile reliability and quality.
- Strengthen mobile observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and crash reporting.
- Own and improve mobile CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, templates, documentation, and automation.
- Manage the end-to-end iOS and Android release process and lead the on-call rotation for critical platform incidents.
- Define and enforce mobile engineering best practices and lead cross-squad technical initiatives from problem definition through rollout and adoption.
- Align engineers, engineering managers, product managers, designers, and backend/platform teams around technical direction and trade-offs.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentorship, design reviews, pairing, coaching, and contributions to hiring and onboarding.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience building native iOS or Android applications, including at least 3+ years operating at a Senior or Staff level.
- Deep expertise in either iOS technologies such as Swift, SwiftUI, Combine, and async/await, or Android technologies such as Kotlin, AndroidX, Jetpack, Coroutines, and Hilt, with commercial knowledge of both platforms.
- Proven experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and evolving mobile architectures, including modularisation, design systems, networking, or offline support.
- Strong focus on code quality, reliability, testability, maintainability, automated testing, and meaningful test coverage.
- Experience owning and improving mobile CI/CD pipelines, including build optimization, test stability, and release workflows.
- Ability to influence without authority, align engineers, product managers, and designers, and make pragmatic technical trade-offs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience defining mobile platform roadmaps and owning shared mobile libraries or frameworks used by multiple product teams is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with mobile design systems, component libraries, analytics, experimentation, feature flagging, and observability tooling is preferred.
- Experience in payments, fintech, or B2B SaaS domains and in mentoring senior engineers, hiring, or growing mobile teams is preferred.
- Contributions to the mobile community or evidence of thought leadership in mobile architecture and foundations are preferred.
