Responsibilities
- Design and build model versioning, lineage, and validation-evidence systems connecting models to training data, data origins, risk management, and clinical evidence.
- Develop and maintain a PCCP-style change-control framework defining permitted modifications, bounds, and automated re-validation protocols for adaptive models.
- Design and configure ML training, validation, and promotion pipelines with gates across development, testing, acceptance, and production tiers.
- Build model drift and performance monitoring and define scheduled and drift-triggered retraining processes for post-market surveillance.
- Version and trace deployed processes and services against medical-device design-control processes.
- Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, product, software, and data-science stakeholders to translate governance requirements into technical implementations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4–5 years of hands-on MLOps engineering experience, preferably in the medical-technology industry.
- Experience with model versioning or registries such as MLflow, CI/CD for ML, containerized deployment with Kubernetes, and workflow orchestration such as Argo.
- Strong industry architecture experience; academic-only or traineeship experience is not sufficient.
- Experience shipping ML in regulated or safety-critical environments and automating design-control processes using frameworks such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, DO-178C, or ISO 26262.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills and experience productionizing Python research code in collaboration with data scientists.
- Direct experience with continuous or adaptive learning systems under change-control or PCCP-like frameworks.
- Ability to work across engineering and regulatory or clinical teams, prioritize governance and compliance work, and produce auditable technical documentation.
- Fluency in English.
- Preferred experience with FDA PCCP guidance or adaptive SaMD regulatory frameworks, adaptive neurostimulation, closed-loop deep brain stimulation, closed-loop diabetes management, FHIR, SNOMED CT, NWB/BIDS, ISO 14155, MDR, or ICH E9.
