
Staff AI Engineer
TELUS DigitalResponsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of scalable, modular, and performant AI-powered systems using generative AI, agentic workflows, and multi-agent ecosystems.
- Design and standardize multi-agent coordination, context and memory strategies, and human-in-the-loop interactions.
- Lead model-selection and architecture trade-off decisions involving latency, cost, accuracy, scalability, evaluation, governance, and safety guardrails.
- Design data architectures involving embeddings, vector databases, chunking strategies, and context pipelines for large-scale unstructured data.
- Ensure production readiness through CI/CD, containerized deployment, cloud integration, observability, and reliability engineering.
- Mentor engineers, advise on architecture, communicate technical trade-offs, and collaborate with engineering, data, product, and operations teams.
- Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and architectural paradigms and incorporate suitable approaches into the AI ecosystem.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting AI systems and a strong software engineering background with Python/Django, Java/Spring, or TypeScript/Express, including API integration and orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with LangGraph, Google ADK, OpenAI Agents SDK, CrewAI, tool-calling, MCP, and RAG.
- Experience using RAGAS, LangSmith, Arize, or Braintrust for AI-system evaluation and observability.
- Expertise in embeddings, vector databases, and chunking strategies, including their trade-offs.
- Experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, containerization and orchestration, and AWS Bedrock or Azure AI for scalable, high-throughput, low-latency, secure deployments.
- Strong prompt and context engineering skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with context enhancement features such as Claude Skills is a bonus.
- Bonus qualifications include building GenAI data-analysis pipelines for large unstructured datasets, advanced agentic AI architecture, ML performance optimization, and integrating AI into larger software ecosystems.
- Completed Data & AI certifications from AWS, Azure, or GCP are a bonus.
