Responsibilities
- Build and operate a multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platform used by engineering teams for deployment.
- Write, test, review, version, and maintain production-grade platform tooling such as CLIs, operators, controllers, and automation services.
- Develop and govern GitHub Actions workflows, repositories, permissions, security controls, deployment environments, and internal GitHub integrations.
- Manage GitOps deployments, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes manifests, progressive delivery, rollback mechanisms, and secrets management.
- Design and operate Kubernetes clusters, including workload scheduling, tenant isolation, resource boundaries, autoscaling, networking, and managed cloud Kubernetes services.
- Build observability capabilities covering structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, SLIs, SLOs, and alerting thresholds.
- Participate in on-call support, create runbooks, and lead postmortems that produce platform-level improvements.
- Debug issues across the full stack, from Kubernetes scheduling failures through Spring Boot stack traces and Hibernate query plans.
- Partner with engineering teams on architecture and operability concerns, mentor engineers on CI/CD and platform practices, and contribute to technical discussions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong general-purpose programming ability in Java, Go, and/or Python, beyond scripting alone.
- Experience writing production-grade internal platform tooling with testing, code review, and versioning practices.
- Experience extending or contributing to shared Spring Boot libraries and starter packs.
- Strong understanding of software design fundamentals, including API design, concurrency, error handling, and backward compatibility.
- Ability to debug across Kubernetes and application layers, including Spring Boot and Hibernate.
- Deep GitHub Actions expertise, including reusable and composite workflows, matrix builds, self-hosted runners, caching, and secure secret handling.
- Experience with repository governance, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Apps, fine-grained access tokens, GitHub Environments, permissions, audit logging, and SSO/SAML integration.
- Production experience with ArgoCD or Flux, Terraform, Helm, and/or Kustomize.
- Experience with progressive delivery, automated rollback, and pipeline-integrated secrets management.
- Deep Kubernetes experience covering deployments, StatefulSets, ConfigMaps, Secrets, quotas, HPA/VPA, network policies, and multi-tenant cluster design.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including networking, IAM, managed Kubernetes, and managed databases.
- Experience with Docker image builds, image hardening, registries, and vulnerability scanning.
- Experience building observability systems using structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
- Experience with on-call practices, runbooks, and postmortems.
- Preferred experience includes on-premises or JBoss-style workload migrations, Kafka or RabbitMQ operations, OPA/Gatekeeper or other policy-as-code systems, and financial-services domain knowledge.
