Responsibilities
- Design and architect healthcare applications and distributed systems using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
- Write critical-path code, proofs of concept, and complex pull request reviews while remaining hands-on for approximately 40–50% of the role.
- Define coding standards, design patterns, quality gates, technical strategy, and long-term architecture across multiple squads.
- Lead technical grooming sessions, architecture reviews, and cross-functional discussions with Product and Engineering leadership.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions.
- Own production reliability, observability, performance, monitoring, alerting, and DevOps practices.
- Design scalable developer harnesses and evaluation pipelines to fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy domain-specific AI models and agents.
- Translate domain knowledge and business logic into reusable AI toolsets, prompt frameworks, APIs, and specialized AI skills.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years at a Senior, Lead, or Staff level.
- Deep expertise in Java 8/11/17+, including memory management, concurrency, multithreading, and JVM tuning.
- Expert-level knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Security.
- Extensive experience designing cloud-native systems on AWS, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Experience architecting distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and high-throughput RESTful and gRPC APIs.
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional technical alignment, develop long-term strategies, and mentor engineers across multiple squads.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL data-modeling skills, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Preferred experience in healthcare or HealthTech, including HIPAA, HL7, FHIR, or EMR/EHR integrations.
- Preferred experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation and observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or ELK Stack.
