Responsibilities
- Own architecture and design for the registry server, including schema validation, compatibility rules, and code-generation job orchestration.
- Lead the evolution of multi-language code generation for Java, Go, and Rust and artifact publishing through Artifactory, Concord, and LooperPro.
- Design and improve the GitHub Enterprise schema-as-code workflow covering pull-request checks, approvals, merges, and releases.
- Define SLOs, observability, on-call practices, reliability standards, and incident response for the production platform.
- Drive multi-quarter initiatives and technical direction across the registry server, code-generation pipeline, and schema workflow.
- Establish engineering best practices through code reviews, design reviews, technical standards, and mentoring.
- Partner with consumer teams and security reviewers on platform design, identity, and authorization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computing or software field and 4 years of relevant experience, or 6 years of relevant experience without the degree.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, microservices, and platform engineering principles.
- Strong proficiency in Rust or Go and experience building asynchronous, concurrent server software.
- Hands-on experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and API design.
- Experience operating services on Kubernetes and working with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT-based security.
- Experience with a globally distributed or relational database and a record of technical leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include a relevant master’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience and exposure to schema compatibility tooling, Maven, Artifactory, GitHub Apps, or CI integrations.
