Base Salary
$200k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and iterate on production features across backend APIs, data pipelines, integrations, case management, and customer-facing tools
- Build scalable services that orchestrate checks across more than 80 compliance vendors
- Develop KYB and AML case management workflows and business logic
- Create pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and routing compliance data at scale
- Integrate third-party identity and compliance APIs and map complex vendor responses
- Write maintainable, tested, and documented code and participate in code reviews
- Debug production issues, own incident resolution, and improve system performance, reliability, cost-efficiency, monitoring, alerting, and observability
- Collaborate with product managers, compliance experts, customer success teams, founders, and engineering colleagues on technical decisions and architecture
- Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering practices and development workflows
- Drive technical decisions for major initiatives and lead cross-functional feature teams as the platform scales
Requirements
- 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
- Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js
- Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, or distributed systems
- Understanding of relational databases and data modeling, including PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, with GCP or Azure also acceptable
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern deployment practices
- Ability to own projects from ambiguous requirements through production launch
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in unfamiliar codebases
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Experience in fintech, RegTech, payments, fraud, or risk detection is preferred
- Knowledge of KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, or adverse media workflows is preferred
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS is preferred
- Familiarity with MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch is preferred
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and managing vendor relationships at scale is preferred
- Frontend experience with React and TypeScript is preferred
- Background with ML/AI systems or data-intensive applications is preferred
- Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure-as-code experience is preferred
