Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance software applications supporting UAS operations and mission execution.
- Implement features and resolve software defects according to requirements, design guidance, coding standards, and quality processes.
- Plan, develop, and execute unit, integration, and system tests.
- Support software verification and validation by defining test objectives, methods, success criteria, and data collection requirements.
- Build and maintain internal tools and automation for development, testing, troubleshooting, verification, and operational workflows.
- Investigate and report software defects, integration issues, and system anomalies.
- Collaborate with software, avionics, systems, and test engineers on software integration and lab, ground, and flight test activities.
- Prepare test procedures, test reports, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and other technical documentation.
- Support configuration management and software release processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience or an equivalent combination of education and applicable project experience.
- Proficiency in one or more of C#, Python, C++, or Java.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and debugging software applications.
- Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle and unit and integration testing.
- Ability to identify, document, and troubleshoot software defects and implement software requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Preferred experience includes aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, defense, or safety-critical software development.
- Preferred experience includes internal engineering tools, automation solutions, test utilities, hardware-in-the-loop, bench testing, flight testing, networking, serial communications, vehicle interfaces, sensor integration, automated test frameworks, and continuous integration/continuous deployment tools.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and issue-tracking tools is preferred.
