Base Salary
$191k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Adapt Reddit’s platforms to evolving privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to build trusted, compliant user experiences.
- Own product areas and shape strategy from technical design and coding through testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives critical to Reddit’s business and platform integrity.
- Improve engineering workflows and standards while mentoring engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience across multiple backend areas, including databases, networking, and efficient computing.
- Experience with Go, Python, Postgres, Redis, Thrift, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience serving as a technical lead on projects and teams with at least three backend engineers.
- Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load.
- Strong self-direction, innovation, action orientation, and comfort working in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical audiences in a fully remote environment.
- Experience mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects is preferred.
