Base Salary
$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement software supporting spacecraft and customer payload build, test, and operations.
- Develop new capabilities and automation for K2’s mission software platform and multiple satellite constellations.
- Collaborate with Mission Operators, Flight Software teams, and other engineers to define and implement mission architecture.
- Facilitate software design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Work across Rust backend and TypeScript/Vue frontend systems to support development, testing, and operations milestones.
- Provide on-call support for ground test activities and on-orbit spacecraft operations.
- Mentor other engineers and strengthen software engineering practices and team culture.
- Work with external customers to scope and deliver software for their payload needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience building software solutions in a professional environment.
- Top Secret Clearance.
- Preferred experience with space missions or satellite ground segments.
- Preferred experience with Rust or statically typed backend languages including Go, C++, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
- Preferred experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend technologies such as Vue, React, or Svelte.
- Preferred experience with version control, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring tools.
- Preferred experience developing HTTP or gRPC APIs, SQL databases, event-driven architectures, reliable scalable systems, Docker, Kubernetes, WebSockets, or Server-Sent Events.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and standards such as SOC 2 and FedRAMP, networking protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and QUIC, and data streaming technologies such as NATS or Pulsar.
